At the Beauty School our Hairdresser program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience needed to pursue a career in the exciting field of hairdressing. Students learn the fundamentals of hairdressing techniques, including shampooing, conditioning, blow-drying, curling, straightening, and upstyling. They also study hair and scalp anatomy, chemistry of hair products, customer service, sanitation and safety practices, and state regulations governing the beauty industry.
Hands-on training is a crucial component of hairdressing programs in Alaska. Students have the opportunity to practice their skills in a salon-like setting under the supervision of experienced instructors. This practical experience allows students to work with real clients, gain confidence, and refine their techniques.
Upon successful completion of a hairdressing program students are eligible to take the state licensing exam to become a licensed hairdresser. With the right training and dedication, graduates of our program can find employment in salons, spas, or even start their own hairdressing business.

At The Beauty School our Esthetics course provides comprehensive training in skincare, facial treatments, body treatments, makeup artistry, hair removal techniques, aromatherapy, and spa treatments. Students learn about skin analysis, product knowledge, client consultation, sanitation and hygiene practices, and state regulations governing the esthetics industry.
This program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to become a licensed esthetician and work in a variety of settings within the beauty and wellness industry. Hands-on training is a key component of our esthetics program. Students have the opportunity to practice their skills in a simulated spa environment under the guidance of experienced instructors. They work with real clients to perform facials, chemical peels, waxing, makeup applications, and other esthetic treatments, gaining valuable experience and building a professional portfolio.
Upon successful completion of a beauty school esthetics program in Alaska, students are eligible to take the state licensing exam to become a licensed esthetician. This license is required to practice as a professional esthetician in the state and ensures that practitioners have met the necessary standards of education and competency.
Graduates of this program can pursue opportunities in salons, spas, skincare clinics, medical spas, or even start their own esthetics business. With a strong foundation in esthetics education and training, individuals can embark on a fulfilling career helping clients look and feel their best.

At The Beauty School, we offer a convenient and flexible 12-hour basic manicure course that allows you to study at your own pace. This self-study program is designed to be completed in just two days, making it ideal for busy individuals looking to pursue a career in nail care.
There are no tests required with the state board for this course. Once you have completed the program, you will have a test here on campus. After passing the test we will assist you in submitting your application to the state board, and upon approval, your license will be issued.

A student who is enrolled in a course of manicuring must complete a curriculum that consists of at least 12 hours of instruction or training that includes the following subjects for the minimum number of hours specified.

The 600-hour Instructor class prepares the student to become a Hairdresser, Esthetician, Manicurist and Barber Instructor in the State of Alaska. This is a 17 week full time course. A student enrolling in this course must be licensed in the State of Alaska and have practiced for a minimum of one year to be enrolled.

The Beauty School’s Massage program provides comprehensive training in the art and science of
massage therapy. We offer a structured program that is designed to equip students with the
knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience needed to become licensed massage therapists and pursue
a rewarding career in the field of massage therapy.
Students will learn a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish massage, deep tissue massage,
sports massage, reflexology, aromatherapy massage, and more. They will study anatomy, physiology,
kinesiology, and pathology to understand the human body and how it responds to touch and manipulation.
Students also learn about client assessment, treatment planning, massage contraindications, ethics,
communication skills, and business practices related to running a successful massage therapy practice.
Hands-on training is a fundamental component of our massage program. Students have the opportunity to
practice their massage techniques on fellow classmates, instructors, and clients in a supervised clinical
setting. This practical experience allows students to develop their skills, gain confidence, and refine their
techniques under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Our Massage program provides a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can
immerse themselves in the study of massage therapy and develop the skills needed to help others improve
their health and well-being through the power of touch. Graduates of massage school programs can find
employment in a variety of settings, including spas, wellness centers, chiropractic offices, physical
therapy clinics, and even start their own private practice.
Certifications Offered at The Beauty School
Requires satisfactory completion of the 625 hour Massage Therapy Program. This is a vocational certificate required for professional licensing by the State of Alaska, and other areas that require up to 625 hours of education from a Postsecondary Education school.
Alaska is one of the most recent states to enact statewide regulations requiring all massage practitioners to have an Alaska massage license. Beginning In 2015 Alaska required all practicing therapists to have a current and unrestricted license.
The MBLEx exam is used by 44 states, Alaska being one of them and several U.S. territories in order to evaluate a practitioner’s grasp of the fundamentals of massage therapy.
What is MBLEx? The Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination, or MBLEx test, is a nationally recognized exam for massage therapy licensure. The test is used by 44 U.S. states to assess a massage therapist’s educational background and understanding of key massage concepts. After passing the MBLEx, a massage therapist can obtain licensure in any of these states.
The 625-hour Massage Program prepares the student to become a licensed Massage Therapist in the State of Alaska and consists of the following:
